Cold Weather Tip: Temperature Regulation

There are two recent additions to my arsenal that have made a huge difference with staying warm and dry: undershirts (specifically the Numi layers) and powder. Both absorb sweat to prevent you from feeling cool and wet.

As I’ve mentioned more than once, the Numi layers are transformative for me. Read more about them here!

Now, the powder. Any body or foot powder should do the job, but I use Body Dust with the Dust Puff from MegaBabe.

I apply it to my feet before I put on my socks. I use a big fluffy puff for application so I can keep my hands clean. It’s best to follow this up with wool socks as wool regulates temperature as well.

This habit has really been a game-changer for me because I have poor circulation in my feet and hands. My feet are not good at regulating their temperature, so they stay very cold and sweat easily, which makes them even more cold. It’s gotten very bad in frigid winter weather, and my feet get swollen which is very painful. (It’s called chilblains, which feels like something out of a classic novel.)

Have you ever tried powder for your feet or anywhere else? Do you have any other tips for staying warm and dry?

I know it’s a little late in the winter game to share this tip, but it won’t be very warm for a while, it works in hot weather too, and now you’ll have it in your pocket for next winter!
