Your Wardrobe Therapy

What is Wardrobe Therapy?

Wardrobe Therapy is identifying the issues with your closet, and figuring out the best solutions and habits for you.

Wardrobe Therapy has four elements: sorting, styling, storing, and shopping.

While one element may jump out to you as what you need help with, everyone needs at least a little bit of each in order to help their wardrobe reach its full potential.

The elements complement each other. It is easier to style outfits when you’ve freshly reminded yourself of the contents of your closet. Shopping plans are better tailored when you know what you tend to wear and like. Everything is easier when your space is organized.

Is it possible to do this on your own? Sure! But it’s also easy to get overwhelmed and mentally drained, especially if any of the elements don’t come easily to you. That’s where I come in!

As your wardrobe therapist, I focus on your specific needs. I provide constructive feedback and offer support. My opinions are never without reason, and my goal is for you to get the tools you need to feel your best.

The first step is to go through your closet to make sure you only keep what you want to wear, what you have to wear, and what you love to wear.

Sorting will help if:

  • You wear a small fraction of your wardrobe - we remove the unwanted

  • You forget what clothes are in your closet - we rediscover forgotten favorites

  • You went through a life-change (graduation, new job, retirement, parenthood) - clothes that don’t suit your current needs make room for more appropriate pieces

As we go through your clothes, we will come up with outfits. The goal is to find versatility in your pieces, figure out what your best outfit formulas are, and what styling tricks help you the most.

Styling will help if:

  • You want to get out of a style rut - we will switch things up

  • You have pieces that you’re not sure how to wear - we’ll come up with ways to try, or say goodbye

  • You want your wardrobe to work smarter, not harder - we will maximize versatility with capsule and uniform planning

Once we have our (mostly) final selection, we organize, fold and put away your clothes in a way that will be easy for you to navigate and maintain.

Storing will help if:

  • You can’t easily navigate your clothes - we make your closet make sense

  • You wear the same clothes because they’re what you can see and reach - everything can be found easily

  • You need to rework your closet space - we shuffle things around to suit you

We will come up with a plan to help you fill the holes in your wardrobe, maximize your shopping success, and minimize wasting your time and money.

Shopping will help if:

  • You get overwhelmed with the options and making the right buying decisions - having a plan will help you know what to buy and how it will fit in your closet

  • You have to do a lot of last-minute shopping for occasions/trips/work - we’ll figure out what you need and have a plan for filling it so you will be prepared

  • You do a lot of returns and have buyer’s remorse - having better shopping tips will help you avoid making buying mistakes

After your initial wardrobe therapy appointment, I recommend considering seasonal assessments two to four times a year.

For seasonal assessments, we:

  • Go over our notes and plans from previous sessions

  • See what worked and what didn’t

  • Update your closet’s organization, and

  • Make changes as necessary.
