Friday Finds: Winter Capsule

As discussed Wednesday, I have a very solid (perhaps stuffed) winter wardrobe. But if I were to start from scratch, here’s what I would buy. Most of this is what I have and shared on Wednesday, which hopefully shows how much I like these pieces.

  1. Alani Cashmere Mock Neck Sweater: I’m writing a full review (which should be posted on the 20th), but if you’ve read even a few random outfit posts from the last year, it’s very likely that you’ve seen this sweater.

  2. Knit Sweater: I haven’t tried this sweater, but it has favorably reviews and a lot of great colors, neutrals and brights.

  3. Turtleneck Sweater: This sweater might be a pretty good dupe for the Alani sweater, in terms of silhouette, though I haven’t tried it myself. It’s not cashmere, but it looks nice!

  4. Printed Shirt with Bow: Black-based prints tend to look more winter appropriate. This print is pretty, and would work well in other seasons too.

  5. Long Sleeve Turtleneck Seamed Detail T-Shirt: The seamed details of this otherwise basic turtleneck add fun visual interest, but it’s still a basic top. A good staple, especially in winter.

  6. Tissue Turtleneck: This turtleneck style is soft and light, which makes it a good layer. Also comes in lots of colors.

  7. Numi Mockneck: I have this turtleneck in black. It is very soft and good for temperature regulation. I think it runs a bit small.

  8. Numi Crop: A detailed review of the numi layers is coming sometime next month, but suffice it to say, I wear these all the time and recommend them as layers under sweaters and other tops. I’m also going to share a discount code in that post, for future reference!

  9. Slit Ribbed Leggings: Have and love these leggings. They’re very simple, but can be dressed up. For leggings. They run small.

  10. Vintage straight pant in garment-dyed corduroy: My favorite cords! A review for these will be up next month as well.

  11. 10" High-Rise Skinny Jeans in Danny Wash: TENCEL™ Denim Edition: My favorite jeans! I wear the curvy version.

  12. High-Waisted Pants: My recently-discovered favorite trouser-y pant. Full review was posted yesterday!

  13. Cut-out faux-leather skirt: A leather skirt is a great winter staple.

  14. Pleated Tiered Maxi Skirt: If I were to buy a new statement skirt for winter, it would be this one. Great texture, can be dressed up (blouse and heels) or down (sweater and booties), gorgeous moody colors.

  15. Tie-Waist Sweater Dress: This easy sweater dress looks like it would be nice on its own, or dressed up with a jacket or scarf or boots or something. Also like that you can switch the belt out.

  16. Aggie Black: This either is the boots I have, or are a very similar style. I love a stretchy OTK boot with a low heel because they can still look dressy, but are a bit more comfortable. Of course, a high heel OTK boot looks great too!

  17. Abriel Boot: If I had to replace my bone booties, it might be with these. The color looks nice and the style is pretty.

  18. Point Flats: Flats aren’t the most winter appropriate, but these work the best because they are washable (if you get winter muck on them) and they’re small (easy to carry with you to change into from your winter boots). I wrote a post on them in 2020 and included my code to save $20 on your first order!

  19. White Sneakers: I love my white leather Keds and have two pairs, but… When I buy a fresh pair, I’m going to try these. I like the approach the brand has, and it would be great if they stayed more clean looking, which is difficult when it comes to white sneakers!

  20. Silver Sneakers: The style I have are no longer available, but these look pretty nice!
