Roundup: August 2020

I am one of those people that is always very excited for summer during the springtime, and then absolutely ready for fall during August. August is frequently hot and wet, and that is not my personal weather preference. I tried not to hurry summer away too quickly, as I will miss it dearly when I’m freezing in a few months, but fall is my favorite season, so it is difficult for me.

There were five Mondays this August, so that means five weeks of outfits! Though one is happening after this post goes up, it still counts and I’ll edit this with a link for it after the fact!

I had a lot, a lot, of fun with my Wednesday posts this month. Which is always true, because I try to only write about things that I actually want to write about, not things I just think I should write about. But something about these felt even more fun for me.

The outfits inspired by flowers were so much fun and turned out so much better than I thought it could. It still makes me giddy to think about. I definitely want to do more flowers! And other things from nature…

I wrote about outfit formulas, which are handy for styling and shopping. I definitely want to do more of these in the future to show what’s possible with them.

I also wrote about ideas for transitioning looks from day to night. This came from a client question, and I love the idea of answering questions for people because there are topics that I won’t think of, and this makes my brain focus in a different way.

There were even more reflections in the Summer Summary from a few days ago.

Because this post falls on a Friday, there were only three Finds posts this month. I am still very tempted by a lot of the pieces I shared, particularly the jackets at Aritzia!

July 28: This dress was a great purchase. It’s comfortable and surprisingly versatile. I wore it more simply here and loved it.

August 1: And then I wore it again the same week! I was so exciting to figure out this styling for the dress. I’m very much looking forward to wearing it in the fall as well.

August 9: Loved this look, and loved matching with my kiddo! We don’t match all the time, but he does enjoy it, so I’m going to take advantage of it while it lasts.

August 11: I enjoyed this sporty iteration of a typically dressier piece. This skirt was one of my early postpartum purchases so it has sentimental value in that way, but I also just really love the colors and the pattern, so it’s just fun to wear.

August 12: It was so much fun to steal my husband’s shirt last month that I decided to do it again! Very casual outfit, but just felt great to wear.

August 13: Figuring out another way to wear this top was so satisfying! I can see this look transitioning well to the fall.

August 17: What I liked the most about this outfit, other than the fun color scheme, was that I looped the scarf around the neckline of the camisole so I could wear a scarf without it being tight around my neck on a warm day. It also looked quite cute from the back, which is always a plus.
