Friday Finds: Unique Vintage

This week’s post was inspired by my dad, who said I should do something related to vintage. I thought, “hm, not sure if I can do a vintage roundup because that’s not my forte and that kind of shopping gets complicated, but I do know of a great website for vintage-inspired clothing!”

Unique Vintage has an in-house label and carries vintage-inspired brands, with styles spanning decades of inspiration. They feature almost all of their clothes in straight and plus sizes, which is fantastic. You can sort their offerings by decade, generic or specific silhouette, or just browse randomly. As it happens, my ticket dress came via Unique Vintage.

Some pieces translate very well to modern dressing, and some don’t, but both are very fun. My selections are some of my favorite in the former category.

Dresses

  1. Orange & Black Plaid Nicole Swing Dress Plus: This dress is so great for fall. Add a belt in a coordinating color to accentuate the waist, a (beige, camel, olive, black) trench as a layer for crisp weather, and almost any kind of shoe.

  2. Retro Black & White Pin Dot Bianca Wrap Dress Plus: The collar and silhouette make this wrap dress a sort of shirtdress as well. I love to add a pop of color with a black and white print.

  3. Olive Green Velvet Short Sleeve Stretch Mod Wiggle Dress Plus: There’s just something about this dark green that intrigues me! It would be great for fall and winter occasion dressing. Add camel and rusty tones for autumn, and bright red and white for winter.

  4. Black Stretch Sleeved Adelia Wiggle Dress Plus: UV carries so many, many great wiggle dresses. This is a classic example with a great shape and neckline.

Tops

  1. Black Off The Shoulder Imogen Top Plus: An easy basic with off-the-shoulder straps that look like they’d stretch and stay in place, rather than snapping to the top of your shoulders.

  2. Black Cotton Stretch Short Sleeve Keynote Top: A woman I follow on instagram who posts vintage-inspired style frequently wears tops like this. They’re like an elegant tee.

  3. White Button Up Bow Shirley Crop Top Plus: Classic shirt meant to be tied up.

  4. Dark Purple Gwen Blouse Plus: They have this blouse in a few colors, but this purple really grabs me. The bow and cuffs are very vintage details.

  5. Black & Multicolor Large Dot Blouse: I’d pair this loud top with colorful pants and possibly a cape. Very ‘60s, very fun.

  6. Everyday Is Halloween Graphic Unisex Tee: It’s a mood.

  7. Black Flame Candle Womens Tee: I loved this shirt last year, and I am going to get this brilliant tee this fall. For real this time.

Skirts & Pants

  1. Grey & Happy Floral Print Swing Skirt Plus: Love this fun floral skirt. Lots of great colors, and you can see how cute it is with a cropped sweater.

  2. Black High Waist Swing Skirt Plus: Similar skirt as above, but in basic black! Pairs well with printed blouses or contrasting tops.

  3. Red Amma Suspender Swing Skirt Plus: Adding structured suspenders to a skirt is a fun way to add shape to a blouse.

  4. Black Stretch Peplum Boulevard Pencil Skirt Plus: A classic pencil skirt with a peplum. Great for adding volume at the waist/hip while maintaining an otherwise sleek silhouette.

  5. Light Pink High Waist Rachelle Capri Pants Plus: We know I love a pink pant! Capris are a fun vintage style.

  6. Red Stretch High Waist Rizzo Cigarette Pants Plus: Extremely high waist pants in a stretchy material are very vintage and yet also very modern.
