Friday Finds: Transitional Jackets, Part Four

Welcome to the final installment of this month’s transitional jackets series! Previously, I’ve featured denim jackets, bombers, and blazers. This week, there are a lot of different styles to look at.

  • Water-Resistant Trench Coat: Have I talked enough about how much I love a good trench coat? No? Okay. Trench coats are great layers that can be light protection against wind, or more serious protection against wet, depending on the material finish. They’re practical and stylish too.

  • Long Soft Trench Coat: A drapey trench doesn’t work well against wet weather, but is a handy layer for wind or chill. This one is mostly sold out (as of writing this) in black and camel, but the rose pink is quite nice. A fabric with drape works especially well with a contrasting belt to give it definition and interest. Or wear it open and flowy (with the self-belt tied in the back).

  • Packable Narrow Channel Puffer Vest: “But Mary,” you may protest, “puffers already?” Maybe not quite yet, but there will be a chill in the air soon enough. Puffer vests are great for keeping you warm without overheating in a full jacket. Then, in the winter, layer them with jackets and coats for more warmth.

  • Cropped Commuter Jacket: Great for an athleisure look. Would go well with pants and a blouse, or leggings and a tank, or even over a narrow dress or skirt. Love the tan khaki over black and white, the black with brights, or the pink English rose with soft colors.

  • Faux Leather Jacket: A fun version of a motorcycle jacket! While it’s warmer, wear over a light top and skirt or pants. When it’s cooler, wear boots, a turtleneck or sweater, and a scarf.

  • Faux Leather Jacket: This jacket is so simple. It’s offered in a good size range, and a basic black jacket is very versatile.

  • Collarless Jacket: This comes in black and beige, and I have a jacket that is very similar this in a beige. I like the collarless version for a little more space around the neck, and the faux suede would be easier to care for than the real deal.

A quality, genuine leather jacket is a real investment piece because they can be pretty pricey, but also last a very long time. That was something I didn’t feel as comfortable browsing for in a roundup like this, but a leather jacket that works in cool weather or that can layer under your winter coat is a good find indeed.

And that’s a wrap on the month of jackets - pun intended!

What’s your favorite style of jacket? Are there any you’ll be picking up?
