Spring Capsule

I’ve put together capsules for neutral colors, brights, and winter, so I wanted to set some fresh parameters. I picked some slightly unusual colors for me, and said no black!

That’s 28 articles of clothing and 10 accessories, for a total of 38 pieces! Below are 44 outfits using this capsule. There are so many more possibilities. Even I was surprised at how versatile this capsule is.

Read on for some style notes!

A white top (above in a blousy cami, below in a silk tee) is a classic because can be worn with other neutrals, colors, and prints. Any color that is a versatile neutral for you would function the same way.

I like to style prints with solids in colors that are in the print (ex: with the terrazzo tank, I wear blue, cream, grey, and sage). Different options can give the same piece a totally different feel (like the blue jeans v the pleated skirt).

Button-front blouses and shirts (above) can be worn loose, tucked, open, tied, belted, sleeves rolled, with pants or skirts or even dresses (see two sections down).

I love elevating a tee by pairing it with fun colors or dressier pieces, like trousers or a structured jacket.

Layering sweaters or tops over dresses is an easy way to get more wear out of them!

Confession: I’ve had this slip dress (above) for maybe two years and have not worn it. But I love the way it styled with the blouse and the sweater, so I think these outfits will be worn in the real world soon!

Sweaters are my favorite thing to wear! Brights and neutrals both work with more of the same, contrasted, or with a print. You can see this with the ways I styled the purple sweater, the mint sweater, and the camel sweater.

When the outfit is otherwise solid colors, I love to add a printed scarf to tie the colors together and add interest.

What’s your favorite look from these examples? Did you get any capsule or outfit ideas?
