Packing Tips: A Week Away

In this installment of Packing Tips, let’s pretend we’re going on a weeklong vacation! We hope to visit my brother in California when it is safe to do so, so that can be our hypothetical destination!

For a trip that’s a week long, I would pack a mini capsule wardrobe so I can mix and match pieces, depending on what we do and how I feel (as I am very much a mood-dresser).

As far as our imagined itinerary, we tend to take lots of walks, visit museums, enjoy good food, and we’d definitely spend time at Disney. I’ll also pretend that the weather will be sunny and in the high 60s to mid 70s.

Start from the bottom: footwear! If your feet aren’t comfortable, you’re not comfortable.

Then select your bases. They’ve gotta be comfortable for whatever you’re doing (in this hypothetical: walking, eating, and hanging around).

I always pack the most top options because I usually wear them once.

Other pieces to consider are jackets (for different temperatures), purses (limit number for a trip), and accessories (scarves are handy for style and warmth, jewelry should be versatile).

Here’s my packing list:

Here are 20 outfits I can make from my capsule! My inspiration for these specific selections was Minnie Mouse! I would pick up these ears, either before or on vacation.

Does one need 20 outfits for one week? No, but it is nice to be able to freshen up from a hike or get a bit dressier for dinner, if one wants to (and this one usually does!). It’s more about having options!
