Outfits of the Week: July 20-26

Monday July 20

  • Wrap dress - Banana Republic

  • White sneaks - Keds

A very easy, very breezy outfit for a hot day! I bought this dress in the summer of 2011, so it’s been in my closet for almost a decade. It’s cotton and linen, which makes it very comfortable in hot weather, though it does get quite wrinkled. If it’s at all cool, I love to add a jacket: yellow denim, my great grandma’s vintage aviator, or my brother’s vintage Aeropostale bomber. My son wanted to match me today, so he wore olive shorts with a white tee and white sneakers. It was quite cute! But now his shirt is covered in chocolate.

Tuesday July 21

  • Floral tank - Target

  • Ecru denim - Old Navy

  • Red sandals - J. Crew

I usually pair this top with blue jeans, so I thought I’d switch it up a little. I love having the shoes and statement earrings to accent the red flowers.

Wednesday July 22

  • White cami - Target

  • Green skirt - Stylewe

  • Yellow belt - vintage

  • Floral sneaks - Keds

So this outfit was based around the shoes, and has made me decide that I might not keep them. The print is great and the fit is good, but the colors just don’t tone well with my wardrobe the way I thought they would. I don’t dislike the cami with this skirt, though I think a different shoe would be more flattering, but I wouldn’t wear this combination if not for the shoes. It would be better with a blue denim jacket, or another pop of the right shade of pink. If you wear a 7.5 in Keds, let me know!

Thursday July 23

  • Orange shirt - Target

  • Leggings - Aerie

  • Sneaks - Keds

I never ended up getting out of my gym wear, which is why I like to wear fun stuff to the gym! I love accenting these leggings with bright orange and neon yellow. Always wear clothes that make you happy, even to the gym.

Friday July 24

  • Navy floral cami - J. Crew

  • Grey pants - American Eagle

  • White sneaks - Keds

  • Slicker - J. Crew

This outfit was centered around my slicker. The cami has colors that tone nicely with the mint and neon of the jacket, and I love all of the colors next to the grey of these pants. Sneakers were practical in case of sudden downpour (who likes wet feet?) and the white looks nice too.

  • Ticket dress - Bernie Dexter

  • White sneaks - Keds

  • Yellow belt - vintage

I bought this ticket dress in a closet sale from one of my favorite bloggers, A Clothes Horse. We know by now that I love a good theme, and I can’t resist wearing this dress on a trip to Funland, especially because I used to work there. It was a hot day so I kept it simple with comfortable shoes and a yellow belt, to (say it with me) add waist definition. Some of my former bosses recognized me even in a face mask because of course Mary is wearing a ticket dress to Funland!

Saturday July 25

  • Rash guard - J. Crew

  • Red high waist bikini bottom - Aerie

I bought this rash guard last summer because I love the print and I need significant sun coverage. It is practical in that it protects more skin, and is easy to apply sunscreen around. Plus, it transitions well away from the water, where it looks like a cool crop top! I mix and match it with bottoms that are white, black, pink, or red, as seen here. Also, a woman at the pool said I looked like Anne Hathaway, which was immensely flattering!

  • Floral shirt - Target

  • Denim shorts - Madewell

  • Sneaks - Keds

This was my easy and comfortable post-pool look that had the added bonus of completely matching with my son - something we both love! The shirt is actually from the boys department, though mine is sized for teenagers and my son’s was sized for smaller children. I like to roll the sleeves and tuck or tie the shirt to give it some shape.

Sunday July 26

  • Striped tee - Target

  • Pink denim - Old Navy

  • Camel trench coat - Target

  • Yellow joggers - Target

  • Pink denim jacket - Madewell

  • High tops - Converse

So I didn’t really wear either of these outfits today because I didn’t really get dressed today because I was catching up on outfit pictures because I didn’t take any the last few days. But I did just get these shoes, so I wanted to play around with them a little, and these are two of the looks I came up with! I forgot how uncomfortable it can be to break in high tops, but wow I love them.
