Friday Finds: Marine Layer

Marine Layer is a very cool brand from San Francisco that makes stylish clothes, especially tees, at very high quality. The pieces I have in my closet (like my striped henley dress, black tank dress, and sage trench coat) are some of my all-time favorites, and I shop for my husband there too (their tees are the best). Their product descriptions are helpful and amusing, and they have an sustainability initiative called Re-Spun. Their price point is on the higher side, but it’s a small company that makes great products, so it’s not without reason.

I could go on and on about how I admire them from afar, but let’s get to it! Their spring catalogue just came out and some pieces really caught my eye.

Tops & Tees

  1. Twist-Front Tee in black and olive - An updated take on a classic that would be especially cute with high-waisted bottoms. Black is classic, but olive is fun to contrast with black.

  2. Dion Top - A square neck, slightly longer sleeves, and a ribbed fit makes this another updated classic. Simple and chic.

  3. Bek Cinch Top - This top is so cute. The shape is adorable, and the print is lovely. I hope they come out with this in more color ways.

  4. Paige Button Down - I love a good short-sleeved button down (tucked, tied, loose, layered), and go figure that this yellow stripe option is no exception.

  5. Talia Button Down - Another stripe option with more colors to coordinate with. This would be cute with blue jeans and a different color jean jacket.

  6. Lucy Button Down - This ticks all my boxes: great shape (see note above #4), great colors (pink, orange, green, white), great print (ORANGES). I’d wear this with orange pants, green jacket, white jeans, the list goes on. Done deal. Add to bag.

Sweaters & Layers

  1. Re-Spun Banks Crewneck - The sunset stripe really gives this top a little something. It would be great especially with orange pants (do I have a one-track mind or what?), but really with any bright solid. Or blue jeans. Plus it’s sustainable.

  2. Birdseye Collared Cardigan - I love the way they show this with all whites. It reminds me of the taupe alpaca sweater I wear all the time, but white and lighter material. I have a similar sweater that didn’t work out (didn’t wash well), so maybe I’d have more luck with this one.

  3. Monet Cardigan - I’m not sure if I’ve said before that I’m not really into cardigans, but I find this one quite cute. I think it’s the cropped silhouette and the basic color.

  4. Mya Quilted Swing Bomber - I love a bomber that’s simple but still has some interest. In this case, it’s the quilting, which is also practical.

  5. Tiff Quilted Jacket - This piece isn’t actually new, but it’s on sale now, and I’ve had my eye on it for months for spring/fall aka transitional weather.

Bottoms & Dresses

  1. Lexi Daytime Dress - A black tank dress is not to be underestimated. I have an earlier version of this dress, and I love it. Some of the updates they’ve made sound really nice, though, and you can’t have too many black tank dresses (can you?).

  2. Camila Dress - This is a cute lil dress! I like the sleeves and the defined waist. And the print.

  3. Emlyn Wrap Dress - Wrap dresses are a classic, and this floral take on that looks lovely. The background is navy, which is usually a deal-breaker for me, but I love the greens and white in the print.

  4. Allison Pant - These pants are some of Marine Layer’s best-sellers, and I have been meaning to try them for years. I’d go for the black, but they have other colors available as well.

For the Boys

  1. Signature Crewneck - I check this style regularly for their seasonal colors and stock up when they suit Miguel. I may or may not steal the old ones.

  2. Rosarito Pocket Tee - I love the colors on the pocket detail!

  3. Re-Spun Banks Tee in navy and heather - The sunset stripe returns. I like the navy with colors, the heather with blue jeans, and both with white/light neutral.

  4. Re-Spun Pieced Tee - I love an unusual striped tee!

  5. Re-Spun Signature Crew in Multi Stripe - This mix of colors is nice.

  6. Bagley Button Down - A classic button down in a natural and casual kinda style.

  7. Jones Stretch Jean Jacket - Unbleached cotton jean jacket. Will Miguel wear it, or will I? Time may or may not tell.

  8. Keeler Zip Hoodie - A simple but definitely cool hoodie.
