Fall 2022 Intro

Fall is such a fun season because we get the return of weather cool enough for layers and different textures. I am always very ready for jacket and sweater weather after the heat of the summer. Read on for some notes on trends, and my shopping list!

Trends

Colors

I’ve noticed a lot of cobalt, dark and neon green, orange and yellow, as well as beige, taupe, and grey. Don’t mind if I do!

Menswear

This has been going around for a bit, and never has really been out, but right now there are even more traditional menswear pieces styled in unexpected ways. Vests as crop tops, oversized blazers, tailored trousers that are wide and draped.

Punk and Prep

I would call this part of the Y2K redux. Neither of these styles are new, but there are fun 2K22 versions going around. It’s funny how much these can overlap with each other (for example, a plaid skirt can be punky with safety pins, or preppy with a ruffle), and with the aforementioned menswear trend as well.

Tall Boots and Tall Socks

Together or apart, boots and socks are practical for the season, as well as being fun and stylish! I am looking forward to wearing tall socks again.

Bomber Jackets

A classic redone in a variety of ways: cropped, extra long, bold colors, extra zippers, mixed fabrics, et cetera! Bombers of all kinds are cool, in my opinion, and it’s fun to see so many options.

Maxi Lengths

This is all about length. When one must cover up in a practical manner because of temperature changes, it’s fun to do so with sweeping fabrics!

Big, Oversized Clothes and Style

It is very trendy to wear everything oversized, I would sat in particular jackets, sweaters, and pants. More than just that, dramatically large clothes with statement sleeves and the like are trendy too. After a hot season of wearing the floaty and skimpy to stay comfortable, it’s refreshing to wear funky, statement, overlarge pieces to stay warm and stylish.

Shopping List

  1. Skirt: Still somewhat on the lookout for a dark velvet paisley midi skirt. Would also accept a really cool print.

  2. Sweater: I wrote last year that I was almost totally complete in terms of sweaters, except a print or the right green. Stay tuned!

  3. Coat: As I wrote before, I don’t need any coats. But I would consider a bright and fluffy coat, or a camel coat.

  4. Shoes: Black ankle booties. Hiking boots. That’s it!

  5. Hats: I am on the lookout for hats, probably berets, to accessorize and keep warm with. This is more for winter, though, so I have time! And I do have hats, so not immediately necessary.

  6. Trousers: I am really into the possibilities that come with high waisted, wide leg trousers. If I can find the right length and fit, they could be really fun! Or they could be much too much. Black, or tan, or bright, or print. Or one of each, thank you very much!
