Review: Keds Chillax Sneaker

I bought Keds’ Chillax sneaker in Basics featuring Organic Cotton, and Wildwood (from their Rifle Paper Co collab).

I typically wear a 7.5 in sneakers, and that’s what I’ve purchased all of my Keds in. I bought both of these styles in 7.5.

I initially tried them on with socks, and it was not comfortable. I conferred with my mom (who also has this style) and she wears them barefoot, so I didn’t feel crazy that I couldn’t wear socks with them. They’ve been totally comfortable, but I will use foot powder on days that I expect to feel very sweaty to keep my feet and shoes from getting too stinky.

With the sock/fit problem handled, they were otherwise true to size. I’d say the style runs slightly big, but that’s because it’s designed to slip on and off easily, and not be snug on your heel. I am able to easily slide my foot in, and hook a finger to get the heel on all the way.

So yes, my foot moves around a little in the shoe, but not enough to bother me, be an issue when I walk, or cause blisters. If you vastly prefer your sneaker to be totally snug on your heel, size down, but I don’t know if it’ll be as comfortable.

The White Pair

You might be thinking, if I already have a pair of white sneakers, why did I get another? I do love my white leather Keds, but they are not the most comfortable on hot summer days. These cotton sneaks are so much lighter, and it’s made a big difference so far. These also have a slimmer profile than the Ace, which feels more summery.

At first, it really, really bugged me that the Keds logo is so prominently navy. It still does! I might cut it off. But it has grown on me, and they’re so comfortable that I will wear them anyway.

The “Wildwood” Black Floral Pair

It’s clear by now that I love florals. I picked this because it has a lot of colors that I wear, and the black background is versatile.

I’ve enjoyed wearing it with coordinated solids (like the green dress) and mixed with other floral prints.

These also survived getting completely soaked, which is a good test!

If you’re looking for a light, comfortable, wearable and cute sneaker for summer (and beyond) these are a fantastic option and I’d recommend checking them out. I wish both of these were washable, but some other Chillax styles are!

Rating:

9/10

I have a feeling I’d give them a 10/10 if they were machine-washable.
