Galentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

My friends are very dear to me and I love to celebrate those relationships. One of the ways I show affection is how I dress, plus I always want to feel comfortable and at least moderately appropriate for an occasion. If you’re celebrating Galentine’s Day this month, here are some outfit ideas!

If you’re venturing to a botanical garden or museum

(like Longwood Gardens or the Smithsonian)…

Wear something that’ll keep you warm and cozy! Winter layers are a must so you can adjust what you’re wearing to fit different locations, like switching between outdoor and indoor, or unexpected wind or sun.

  • Top: cute sweater, comfortable blouse, cardigan over cami or tee if you tend to get too warm.

  • Bottom: comfy pants (cords or trousers or jeans or leggings) or an easy skirt (something stretchy or sweater-y).

  • Accessories: a scarf, hat, and gloves can be the difference between enjoying your day out and wishing you’d stayed home!

  • Coat: something warm, double check the forecast to see if you need one that’s waterproof, be prepared to carry it if you’re going to be indoors (I sometimes bring a bag that folds up for this purpose).

  • Comfy shoes: winter-appropriate shoes or a pair that are comfortable for walking.

If you’re having a fancy tea party…

Enjoy dressing up! The key word is ENJOY. Don’t put pressure on yourself, because you know your friend wouldn’t want that. Use this as an excuse to wear something on the fancy side that doesn’t get much use.

  • Interest on top: since you’re planning to be at a table, consider wearing a dress or blouse with the fun part (color, print, texture, other detail) on the top part.

  • Tights: if you end up in a skirt or dress, don’t forget to protect your legs! I have tights on in the picture above.

  • Fun shoes: this occasion doesn’t entail as much walking so take the opportunity to wear a pretty but less practical pair.

  • Plan a layer: always plan a jacket or cardigan that goes with your outfit in case it’s chillier indoors than you expect.

If you’re having a spa date…

I love a matching set of pajamas to feel put together while in loungewear. Don’t forget a robe or cardigan to be cozy in while you enjoy face masks, hair treatments, or mani-pedis. (Why, yes, I sometimes belt my pajamas! And wear sandals with them.)

  • Matching pajamas are not required!

  • Wear whatever is comfy cozy for your activities.

If you’re having a movie night…

Dress for comfort! You’re going to be lounging and eating snacks, most likely, and need to account for that.

  • Most comfortable jeans or joggers or leggings or whatever you want.

  • Top with a cute sweater or sweatshirt or something else to keep you warm.

  • Cozy socks are perfect for feeling really snuggled!

  • Consider adding a scarf or blanket for true coziness.
