Seasonal Summary: Summer 2022

It’s been a wonderful season with many fun outfits! At last count, I’ve recorded 99 outfits from the past three months.

What I wore

I wore dresses 24 times! I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it multiple times every summer season, I love to wear dresses in hot weather.

I accessorized with fun jewelry, belts, hats, bags, and occasionally jackets. (Read more about summer accessories here!)

Shorts

I wore my gap shorts 18 times! I wore a couple other pairs of shorts too, but overwhelmingly these. They were just comfortable in a different way because they had a gentle fit in the waist, flowy legs, and breathable fabric. (Read my full review here!)

Overwhelmingly, I wore the tan pair the most. It’s a clear continuation of the neutral moment I’m enjoying! But with all shorts, I wore a mix of crops, blouses, and tees paired with sandals, flips, and sneaks.

Joggers

I wore joggers in 19 outfits! Joggers are fun in the summer because they offer more sun protection, but are also flowy and comfortable. Plus I think they look really cool!

I most frequently style mine with crop tops, though the occasional tee and even sweater were featured this summer.

Beauty

It was also a season of experimenting with curly hair and not wearing makeup.

With the latter, I realized in the beginning of the summer that I don’t like the feeling of makeup melting into my eyes, and decided to just not wear any, period. I wore various lipsticks occasionally, but even with lip products, I primarily wore a chapstick with spf. It was fun to take such a complete break from makeup, and I look forward to playing around with it again soon!

My hair was curly the summer I was 21, but I haven’t been able to replicate it since then. This summer, I tried a few different products and techniques, with varying degrees of success. I have figured out a combination that works pretty well, and I love it! Now I just have to see if I can get my hair to curl in the winter as well. Wish me luck!

Best Purchases

There actually weren’t very many, and what I bought for and during this season got a lot of wear!

  1. Green wrap dress: love this dress and enjoy wearing it every time!

  2. Smocked maxi: exactly what I was looking for, and the colors are so striking!

  3. Wrap skirt: I love the mix of colors and prints, and can’t wait to style it for fall and spring!

  4. Chillax sneaks: the perfect summer sneaker! So glad I got both.

  5. Gap shorts: see above!

Shopping List Update

  1. Summer dresses: Double check, with great success!

  2. Camisoles: I’ll adjust this one to linen camis and/or crop. Most of my favorite camis are poly, which is not as comfortable in the hottest of hot weather. I love my fitted crops, but didn’t always want to wear them. Linen options would be great!

  3. Flowy linen or cotton tees: Maybe? I like the idea of this still, for sure! Breathability and sun coverage is where it’s at!

  4. Chambray shirt: I found myself wishing I had one a few times, and haven’t found one yet where I like the wash and fabric.

  5. Sandals: I bought several great sandals that I wore and loved all summer. However, I still need a solid white pair! I bought a pair that are cute but not the most comfortable and give me blisters when it’s really hot, plus they’re not only white (there’s some tan detail).

  6. White sneakers: Check, and a second check for the floral one I mentioned and did indeed get!

  7. One piece swimsuit: I considered so many, but I never went for it. Might see if I can try some in an end of season sale!

  8. Sun hats: Check! I wouldn’t say no to another perfect hat (maybe a white one, maybe a wide brim?), but I definitely have a good selection right now that I got a lot of use out of.

  9. Linen wide leg pants: For summer? Groundbreaking. I’d love white, tan, brights, and/or prints.
