Review: H&M Knit Sweater

This week, I’m reviewing the Knit Sweater from H&M, which sells for $24.99. I’d seen it recommended by a few people, it had good reviews, and so I was curious. Finally, I gave in! And in true Mary style, I went full throttle and ordered five colors from the get-go.

I typically wear an XS in sweaters, and that’s what I purchased here. I ordered this sweater in taupe, dark taupe, light khaki green, light purple, and bright blue.

The description reads: “Boxy sweater in soft, knit fabric with wool content. Roll-edge mock turtleneck, long, wide raglan sleeves, and wide, roll-edge ribbing at cuffs and hem.”

I have been very pleasantly surprised by this sweater all around. The mock neck is comfortable, not too tight or high. The knit is really chunky and has great lines to it. It is prone to snags if you’re not careful, but it can also be reworked pretty easily. I love the way it holds its shape.

The fabric content is 50% polyester (recycled, apparently!), 45% acrylic, and 5% wool. I don’t find it scratchy; it’s actually fairly soft. It does shed a bit, but not much. My undershirts don’t get fuzzy from them. It’s more that it’ll shed on your lips if you have something glossy on.

The fit is true to size. I wouldn’t want it to be smaller or bigger than it is. It is on the cropped side, which is how I like it. The pants I’m wearing below are high-waisted and hit just at my belly button.

The bright blue is a bold cobalt that I wasn’t sure about at first, but have loved wearing.

The light purple is a cool lavender that I am obsessed with.

The light khaki green is a great sage-y color that is quite neutral, so it works with cool and warm tones.

The taupe is a light taupe that I think is also neutral, as it appears to pull warmer or cooler depending on what it’s next to. It’s a bit lighter than it looks here.

The dark taupe is much darker, a bit warm, and gorgeous. It looks more brown in these photos, but it’s dark taupe-y grey.

However, each color is a bit different, mostly with how wide the sleeves are. This isn’t a problem for me, I still find them comfortable, but I do prefer the sleeves that are on the more fitted side. It would be nice if there was consistency. You can tell from the photos that the light khaki and lavender have more narrow sleeves than the other three, and the middle fits a bit differently too.

I’ve enjoyed styling this sweater with pants, jeans, skirts, and over dresses. If I absolutely had to pick one, the light purple is my surprise favorite. Like “I’d consider buying a backup in case I manage to ruin it” favorite.
