Spring Brights: A Capsule Wardrobe

It’s time for another capsule wardrobe! As I said before, capsule wardrobes are designed around a limited number of pieces to be mixed and matched into a wide variety of outfits. The key is to have a planned color scheme so that the clothes basically all go together. The last one was all neutrals, but this time, we’re going bright!

This capsule wardrobe includes:

  • 10 tops

    • 4 sweaters [lime, orange, pink pullovers, green cardigan]

    • 2 camis [white and green]

    • 2 shirts [floral button-down and stripe/floral blouse]

    • 2 tees [white and orange]

  • 8 bottoms

    • 2 pants [orange and black]

    • 1 pair of jeans [light grey]

    • 2 leggings [print, neon]

    • 3 skirts [orange tulip, jellyfish a-line, floral pleated]

  • 2 dresses [black and striped]

  • 5 jackets

    • yellow denim

    • blue blazer

    • white bomber

    • bright rain jacket

    • yellow peacoat

  • 6 pairs of shoes

    • 2 flats [black, yellow]

    • 2 sandals [black, red]

    • 2 sneaks [white, floral]

for a total of 31 pieces!

Within each category, I recommend having some variety of basic (usually a solid neutral) and then the bright (can be solid or print).

Solid bottoms, brights or neutrals, make a great foundation. They should work with all of your top options, every pair of shoes, and all jackets (or at least most).

Neutral colors allow the brights to really pop in contrast, while bright on bright adds a playful element.

For this capsule, I picked three types of shoes (flats, sandals, and sneaks), and had each option in a solid and a bright. It makes it easy to switch up outfits.

Tank dresses are easy, can be dressed up and down, and can be worn as a skirt!

Different types of jackets in different colors really switch up an otherwise similar outfit.

When it comes to prints, you want to have at least one of the bright colors that you feature in the solid pieces of your capsule, so you can switch up your solid tops and shoes for different looks.

And that’s 31 outfits, which is a full month of outfits! There are more combinations for these pieces, but I thought this was a good representation of the possibilities from this capsule.
