Friday Finds: Mini Matching
One of my parenting joys is shopping for my son because he enjoys color and fun clothes, and I enjoy shopping. Here are some of my tips for shopping for kiddos in general, but also specifically for pieces that match with mama (and dad too I guess)!
If you missed Wednesday’s post where I talked more tips for matching with your mini, check it out here!
Buy big!
A lot of kids clothes don’t fit beyond a season, so extend their wearability by buying up a size or two where you can. They tend to look okay a bit big, but less so a bit small.
I find this works best with tops (tees, sweaters, sweatshirts) and layers (jackets and coats). Bottoms are tricky, but if the waist is adjustable, they can usually work too!
Buy multiple!
If you find a really cool staple, especially one that matches something of yours, get it in a few sizes!
Example: if you find a great jacket that will be a bit big now in a size small, get a large!
Buy everywhere!
Look in the boys department and the girls department! The girls section frequently has a lot of offerings that are bright colors and patterns that are suitable for every kid. Plus, they tend to have more offerings that correspond with the women’s clothes.
For adults, shop the kid department! Some of the sizes go up to age 14-16, which can be worn by some adults. I find that usually jackets and tops are the best finds there, as the sizing for bottoms is a bit more difficult.
In terms of specific stores, I check Old Navy, Gap, and Target the most! Sometimes H&M, Zara, and just googling if I’m searching for something specific.
Native Shoes has a lot of options for adults and kids, both that coordinate with each other, and that could be similar to your other grown-up shoes.
Here are some of my top picks! There really are so many options, this is just a small selection that can offer a starting point or inspiration. No notes with each piece this time, because between Wednesday’s post and the above tips, that’s a lot of words!
