My Favorite Nude Lipsticks

I love a bold lip - it’s a classic! But in the past few years, I’ve come to appreciate and love a nude lip. It’s a great balance for a bold outfit and bright colors. Plus it’s easier to reapply on the fly!

Note the first: disclaimer - a “nude” shade is different for everyone. I am very, very fair with cool undertones, and my selections reflect that.

Note the second: I always apply a lip balm (specifically the Henné Organics Lux Lip Balm) before I apply lipstick. I either allow time for the balm to sink in, or I’ll lightly blot it before applying lipstick. This is more important with bright and bold colors, so there isn’t too much slip for the product to apply properly, but it applies here as well.

Note the third: in the photos below, the left has the product on half of my mouth, the middle is application, and the right is fully applied.

Henné Organics, Luxury Lip Tint in Bare

  • Truly bare, just a hint of color that’s a bit nude.

  • So hydrating, lovely, easy to apply. I’ve used it down to a nub.

*
Chanel, Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Color in Adrienne

  • Described as an “apricot nude,” my cool undertone counters the preachiness to make this more of a nude on me.

  • The finish is very shiny but not glossy, and it’s easy to apply. Definitely hydrating and comfortable.

*
Ilia, Color Block High Impact Lipstick in Amberlight

  • “Bardot nude” with neutral undertones. On me, it’s a slightly pink brown-nude.

  • The finish is smooth but natural. Not matte, but not very creamy either.

*
Burt’s Bees, Satin Lipstick in Nude Nile

  • On me, this is a slightly pink nude.

  • The finish is, as the name suggests, satin.

*
Charlotte Tilbury, Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk

  • Nude pink, on the warmer side of neutral.

  • Semi-matte, so it has a more flat look, but isn’t too drying. I need to wear it over a balm so it doesn’t feel too dry.

*

Urban Decay, Vice Lipstick in Sheer Liar

  • Pink-nude a warmer undertone. It’s my “my lips but better” shade.

  • It is sheer and looks quite natural.
