Roundup: May 2020

For the past two monthly roundups, I’ve shared the sentiment that everything around us feels weird and it’s a strange time to exist, much less make yourself get dressed every day, if you can. But this month did feel better, somewhat, somehow. I definitely ended up dressed more often than not, and there aren’t nearly as many sweatpants featured as there were in the last two months. Maybe.

We’re not out of it yet, but we are getting out of the chilly weather, which is a great comfort. I’m looking forward to bringing out my summer clothes, and putting away my boots and sweaters. It’s starting to feel more hopeful, and that sentiment is reflected in the brightening of my outfits.

What I Posted

There were four Outfits of the Week posts which were, for the most part, quite colorful.

The post with outfits inspired by the characters of Star Wars was so much fun to do, and I’m already thinking up new outfits and tweaks of these for next year.

I shared some insights into how I shop, which I hope was insightful and helpful. I like the idea of doing this as a kind of series, or just expanding on various aspects and approaches to shopping, with tips and things to think about.

I reflected about this season of life, and this season specifically (spring).

I also shared my shopping list for next spring, because it’s fun to plan ahead.

I shared my spring and summer selections from Old Navy, Madewell, J. Crew, and Everlane.

Favorite Outfits

  1. April 28: So this one is technically from last month, but the post is from this month. I loved this combination and the way the colors worked together. Plus that lipstick always makes me feel cool.

  2. May 1: This outfit is so simple, but I was really pleased with it. I love figuring out a fun combination for a difficult piece (in this case, the scarf), and I love any outfit that features these pants.

  3. May 4: I loved this simple and cute tribute to BB-8! Beep boop.

  4. May 6: So this outfit wasn’t from the month exactly, but it was my favorite of my Star Wars posts. It was, I think, the most spot-on with a character outfit, and it was really fun to wear. I especially liked the layered belts. It reminds me of something I would’ve done in high school or college, and now I want to revisit it.

  5. May 8: This skirt is so much fun to wear, and I can’t wait to wear it again. Or maybe feature it on a style post.

  6. May 12: Bright outfits are fun, and this one was comfortable and extra bright.

  7. May 16: I just love this combination! This cami is one of my favorite tops. When it’s warm, I have to stop myself from wearing it on a weekly basis.

  8. May 21: I really liked these two versions of this outfit! Orange pants plus polka dots plus sneakers equals a winner for me.

June will take us into summer, which means some trend updates, closet updates, and possibly some more theme posts.

Stay safe!
