Packing Tips: Packing Cubes

We’re back with another post about packing tips - ways to use packing cubes! No matter how long you’re packing for, packing cubes make your bags and suitcases easy to organize while you’re packing, and navigate while you’re traveling.

Here are the clothes I’m hypothetically packing for this exercise.

  • I use the Marie Kondo method of folding, for travel and at home. (Here is a video about the KonMari Fold!) These clothing envelopes should be folded so that you can see rows of your packed clothes, like a mobile sartorial filing cabinet.

  • Some pieces are better rolled. I usually do this to fill a specific small space, or to make bulky items a bit more manageable. Think sweaters, denim or pants, socks.

  • If you have specific outfits for specific days or occasions, you can put all of the pieces in one cube or bag.

  • When you’re packing for a longer trip, I recommend sorting your cubes by category. This makes it easier to look at your options to create your outfits, and rewear pieces.

  • Pack the cube to full to keep the clothes from moving around too much. You don’t want to use a cube that’s too big.

  • If you have some extra room in your cube, try adding socks, underwear, or other accessories to fill in the gaps. These items can be in their own smaller bag to take up space and still be organized!

  • Packing cubes make it easy to rearrange your bag or suitcase without completely disrupting all of the folding you’ve done.

  • They also make it easy to unpack in an organized fashion, or get dressed out of your suitcase.

Do you have and use packing cubes? Do you have any other questions about using packing cubes? Would you, could you, with a cube?
