I don’t wear navy (so it won’t be mistaken for black), but I made an exception for this top and it is one of my favorites. I cuffed the pants to create a tapered silhouette. I like a contrasting belt with a paper bag waist, and the yellow picks up on the print in the cami and looks nice with the green. The yellow flats are another call back to the floral and the belt. It was an unusually warm day that allowed for a jean jacket, though I switched to the cozy sweater for an evening by the fire pit.

Monday January 13

Another relatively warm day meant another relatively light outfit (meaning I didn’t have to wear a puffer coat over this). This sweater is cozy and bright without being dumpy or in your face, plus it’s not itchy (the most important), so it was the basis of the outfit. The pink pants are one of my staples and felt perfect with the sweater. I wore this scarf instead of something more pink or otherwise cool-toned to bring out the subtle green in the sweater and make them pop. The gold sneakers usually read as fairly neutral, and are very comfortable. The purse has the same style function as the scarf, and has my initials on it (thanks, Miguel!).

Tuesday January 14

For being all neutral, this sweater (again a focal sweater) is quite bold. The grey jeans bring out the subtle grey stripe, work well to counter the bulkier silhouette of the sweater, and fit with the boots. I’ve had these boots for years, didn’t wear them at all for a long time, but more recently have figured out their niche (usually cold, especially wet weather). If my hair isn’t cooperating and it’s a cold and windy day, a beret is a practical and stylish option.

Wednesday January 15

This is an outfit that feels subtle to me, but really isn’t subtle at all. It’s all neutral and mostly light, but the pants are the statement. The shoes and sweater complement each other in tone, while the moto jacket tones with the polka dots. The necklace is a mix of the three neutrals while the clutch is the pop of color. Any color would work, but I am partial to red with a black and white look.

Thursday January 16

This outfit came about because my son asked me to coordinate him, and he was wearing a marled pink sweater. I like a longer sweater with leggings. The pink, red, and black are all present in the floral of the sneakers. My son has the same hat in grey, though he didn’t end up wearing his today and I wore mine all day because it keeps my head so warm. Full disclosure, I also wore my long puffer coat, which added to the cozy factor of the look (and was just plain necessary because of how windy it was).

Friday January 17

I like to complement the red in the floral jeans, and today I went with this tee because it’s so comfortable. The furry vest has been in my closet for about a decade, and makes this look feel winter-y and irreverent. It is also warm, so practical! These booties go dressy or casual, which is why I like them with an outfit that’s a little bit of both as well.

Saturday January 18:

I think of this as a simple and chic look using pieces that are very versatile. The subtle print of the top brings color to a mostly-black look. The belt adds definition to the waist, and gives the bottom more of an exaggerated peplum. The slim fit of the pants is a good counter to the volume of the blouse. The yellow flats bring out the yellow in the top. I didn’t pick a specific layer to go with it, but there are many options. A black blazer makes it a suited look, while an olive bomber looks more casual, and a white/grey moto jacket is on the edgy side.

Sunday January 19:

The print in the blue top has a lot of nice colors and neutrals in it. The skirt, jacket, and flats brought out the different tones. The blouse has a bit of a funny drape today it, but I didn’t want to tuck it into the skirt, so I tied it with a hair tie in the back, and tucked it up into itself. Full disclosure: it was too cold to wear this today, but I did it anyway because it’s my birthday and I can be cold if I want to.
