Outfits of the Week: March 2-8

Monday March 2

  • Pink sweater - American Eagle

  • Leather skirt - vintage

  • Floral sneaks - all black

Warming weather freed up some of my style options! As I’ve said before, this sweater is cozy without being heavy, which makes it perfect for in between weather. The leather skirt makes the look a little more edgy and less casual, and the sneakers are casual and interesting. Because the shoes have red and pink, I like to reference that with the red lipstick over the pink sweater.

Tuesday March 3

  • Red sweater - American Eagle

  • Pink jeans - Old Navy

  • Yellow belt - vintage

  • Gold floral sneaks - Keds

  • Scarf - Anthropologie

This outfit combination may look familiar if you saw my Valentine’s Outfits post! This scarf is one of my favorite statement pieces. It has a lot of colors that I love, and is comfortable and warm while also transitioning well to warmer weather. The red sweater and pink jeans tone well with the scarf, while the floral sneaks are mostly neutral but also reference the floral in the scarf. I added the belt for definition and to add another pop of yellow.

Wednesday March 4

  • Cream sweater - Ralph Lauren

  • Pink pants - Target

  • Yellow belt - vintage

  • D’orsay pumps - Ferragamo

  • Trench - Target

  • Striped scarf - gift

  • Purse - wedding

A similar yet different version of pink pants with a yellow belt. The pants and sweater tone with the striped scarf, and the yellow belt makes the yellow in the scarf more obvious. The trench is a classic layer that isn’t too heavy, and goes with the warm tones in the scarf. I could’ve worn the keds again, but I wanted a dressier look for no reason in particular, so nude heels it was. The purse has a little texture and pops against the trench while still being neutral. (Fun fact: I bought it during my bachelorette weekend, and used it for our wedding!) I always liked this scarf, but found it usually difficult to actually wear. Hard to believe after styling this outfit.

Thursday March 5

  • Yellow turtleneck - Banana Republic

  • Orange pants - J. Crew

  • Blue blazer - Halogen

  • Black flats - Rothy’s

  • Green purse - Cambridge Satchel Co (gift from Miguel)

I wore a different outfit in the morning, but it was just too chilly for it, so I changed to this vision of brightness! It’s simple in formula, but wild in color. The colors all work well together because they are similar levels of brightness, but are totally different so it’s all contrast. This look also has many permutations, depending on what you switch around (which I’m sure I’ll feature in the future).

Friday March 6

  • Rainbow sweater - Anthro

  • Blue jeans - madewell

  • Yellow flats - Rothy’s

It was a bit of a day, home- and weather-wise, so I wanted something to give me comfort and cheer. I love the subdued brightness of this sweater. The yellow shoes are obviously a favorite of mine, plus they’re waterproof!

Saturday March 7

  • Striped sweater - Gap

  • Floral jeans - Pilcro

  • Booties - Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn

  • Green scarf - bella luna boutique

I countered the cold with another sweater (duh) and fun jeans. The colors don’t match perfectly, but the fuchsia is in both, and the other colors tone quite well. The fit of these jeans isn’t my favorite (I prefer a higher rise and more stretch), but I love the print so much that I put up with it. I added the scarf for warmth and to tone with the jeans. I picked a solid because it acts like another stripe on the sweater, rather than add another pattern (three is fun to mix but trickier). Neutral booties (with wool socks) rounded out the look.

Sunday March 8

  • Terrazzo blouse - Target

  • Grey cords - J. Crew

  • Taupe bomber - Talbots

  • Off-white sneaks - Gola

The weather is starting to get warmer, so sweaters are going to start making way for blouses! I paired this terrazzo print blouse with grey cords (same style as the pink!) and a lighter neutral jacket to bring out some of the tones from the print. The flecked parts of the sneakers reference the very subtle black specks in the print as well. I also liked that the shades of white in the sneakers were also in the print.
