Outfits of the Week: July 6-12

Monday July 6

  • Dress - Target

  • Denim jacket - Target

  • Black flats - Rothy’s

It was a day hot enough to melt you instantly. This dress is mostly light and the floaty skirt is comfortable. A denim jacket seems like overkill, and it is, but it’s also functional. This one isn’t tight, and it protects me from the sun while I’m outside or driving, and the air conditioning in a store. I love this stone necklace that’s both colorful and muted.

Tuesday July 7

  • White cami - Target

  • Ecru jeans - Old Navy

  • Sandals - Franco Sarto

I saw a similar outfit (top and jeans in complimentary shades of off/white with sandals) on Instagram, and thought this would be a good look for a hot day, and for my skincare post.

Wednesday July 8

  • Floral cami - J. Crew

  • Pleated skirt - H&M

  • Aviator jacket - American Eagle

  • White sneaks - Keds

I wrote Friday’s post today, so I inspired myself to wear a pleated skirt. These four items are actually a few of my top favorites. I love the color and fit of this skirt, so I am tempted to get a few other colors. The cami is a bit outside of my norm (because it’s navy), but it gives me so much joy. The jacket is kind of unusual and I have worn it so many times in the few years I’ve had it. And we all know by now that I can’t stop wearing these sneaks!

Thursday July 9

  • White shirt - J. Crew

  • Boat skirt - Leif Notes

  • White sneaks - Keds

  • Yellow denim jacket - Pilcro

  • Turquoise wrap belt - Ada Collection

This skirt is so much fun to wear. I love it with the yellow denim jacket. The turquoise belt is nice with the yellow, and both bring out the most subtle colors in the skirt. I went with sneakers because I was feeling more casual. Yes, I also find it funny to refer to an outfit with a boat-print skirt as casual.

  • Leaf cami - Target

  • Tulip skirt - Target

  • White denim jacket - Pilcro

  • White sneaks - Keds

After what felt like much running around on a hot day, I changed into something a little breezier. I really like the tones in this cami, and I think the shape of the skirt complements the leaf print. The white sneaks and jacket are like a palate cleanser for the outfit. I’m not sure if that totally makes sense, but that’s what I’m going with.

Friday July 10

  • Yellow sweater - bp

  • Paisley pants - H&M

I picked a relaxed outfit for a torrentially rainy day. These pants are fun but incredibly comfortable. A sweater is a bit much for summer, but the rain made it seem chilly, so it was fun to bring out for the day.

Saturday July 11

  • Cream tee - Anthro

  • Black pants - J. Crew

  • D’orsay pumps - Ferragamo

  • Scarf - Museum of Modern Art

It was a bit of a day so I felt like wearing real, but comfortable, clothes. This silk shirt is breezy and super comfortable, but just so pretty and made me feel better. These black pants are my favorites (I have two of them), and I love their skimming but flattering silhouette. The scarf features a Jackson Pollack painting and definitely wasn’t necessary on a July day, but I was inside and felt like wearing it.

Looking at my photos for the week, I’m seeing that today was a return to neutrals and I used this exact pose before. Ha!

Sunday July 12

  • Tank - cop copine

  • Pink jeans - Old Navy

  • Red sandals - J. Crew

  • White denim jacket - Pilcro

I love the details on this tank top. It’s old (like maybe 10 years old?) from a cool French brand. That being said, this tank has almost been culled from my closet quite a few times because I do not completely love the fit. However, as much as fit is important, it isn’t everything. The fit of this top isn’t the worst, it’s just not the best. But the little details are so great and those make me happy. Add in these pieces that I’ve added to my closet in the last few years, and it’s an outfit that I love. Sometimes pieces deserve a second chance!
