Inspiration: Fashion Week Fall/Winter '20

It is currently around the middle of Fall/Winter ‘20 Fashion Month (basically, NY and London have happened, so there’s Milan and Paris to go!). Fashion can be many things: beautiful, intimidating, inspiring, complicated. I concentrate mostly on style, rather than capital-F Fashion, but I do enjoy looking at runway shows for inspiration.

I click through for different colors, color combinations, styling ideas, silhouettes that may be coming into play on an accessible level, and anything else that may catch my eye.

Sometimes I just make mental notes, and sometimes I save images for later reference. Making a Pinterest board would also work, if that’s your thing. I have a feeling I will enjoy checking back through these inspirational blog posts.

There’s no wrong way to find inspiration in fashion, and you may take from it whatever you want. It can be a fun jumping-off point for shopping inspiration if you feel in a rut, or show you a new way to style some pieces you have. Or it can just be fun to look at.

The first Brandon Maxwell look is so simple but lovely. I like that it’s not a skin-tight look, but casually draped.

The second Brandon Maxwell looks like a cozy way to be light for winter.

The Proenza Schouler look is like the first one, but a little more architectural and casual. I love the look of the boots, the ruched waist, and draped shoulder.

I find it difficult to resist pleats in almost any form. I particularly like the wide, sloped waist and contrast cuffs. The collar, not so much for me.

Carolina Herrera often features lovely gowns. This yellow number with the statement shoulder is in my favorite color. I’ve also had my eye on one shoulder and statement sleeve options for a little while.

The Christopher John Rogers look reminds me of one of my favorite dresses. I love the idea of a suit in a big statement floral.

Burberry is not usually my jam, but this look - with the pleated pencil skirt, blouse, belt and jacket with cuffs showing - is a style that I tend towards, but with details (like the prints and colors) that would be new to me.

The main points of the Tory Burch look that appeal to me are the pants and the boots. I also like the overall style/silhouette, though the jacket and blouse don’t particularly appeal to me.

Blues and purples have been creeping their way into my brain and closet recently.

The Tory Burch look is a lot of look, but I do love a statement print in a suit. The colors of this one really grab me. And I still like the boots, though I don’t think I’d wear them this way.

The Christopher John Rogers look is so lovely. The casual draping would be comfortable and flattering, and I love the colors in the abstract print.

Oscar de la Renta frequently shows beautiful, beautiful looks. I love that this one would be like wearing fireworks.
