YWT: Seasonal Assessment and Transition

Transitioning from one season to another is a great time to go through your closet! A seasonal assessment can be its own wardrobe therapy appointment, or part of an initial, maintenance or other session. I recommend seasonal assessments quarterly (between each season), twice a year (from hot to cold and back again), or annually (everything at once).

Dividing your wardrobe into seasons and putting away some of your clothes for part of the year leaves more space in your accessible closet, and keeps your wardrobe feeling fresh without buying new clothes.

It’s also important to sort before you store. That allows you to remove pieces that didn’t serve you this season so they don’t continue to take up space in your brain or closet.

I take notes for what was missing from a season while it’s fresh in your mind. At the same time, I go over what you might need for the incoming season. This gives you a two-tiered shopping plan to utilize now and later.
