YWT: Summer Closet Update

As I’ve mentioned, I am at the beach for the summer! Here’s how I set up my closet-away-from-home for the season.

  • Hanging:

    • By type (jackets, tops, bottoms (shorts, pants, skirts), dresses), and within that by color

    • I used velvet hangers to conserve space and hang my clothes more easily

  • Shoe rack:

    • Top shelf is nicer/newer sneaks

    • Middle shelf is older sneaks

    • Bottom shelf (floor) is flips and slides

  • Dresser top:

    • Jewelry (jewelry dividers, boxes, and a hanger for some long pieces), belts (in a shoebox, and narrow hanging shelf), bags (shoebox), scarves (shoebox), headbands (shoebox drawer), underwear and socks (fabric bins)

    • I didn’t want to buy any organizational materials for one summer, so it was fun to repurpose various shoeboxes and things that I had around.

  • Bags and hats on shelf above dresser

  • Drawers:

    • I always use the envelope folding style for my folded clothes. I also set up the rows by type as much as possible. I use dividers at home, but don’t have any here, and that’s okay.

    • Top drawer is for Miguel’s tops, athletic shorts, and socks and boxers.

    • Middle drawer is tops (crops, tees, undershirts), some cardigans, and dresses.

    • Bottom drawer is bottoms (pants, denim, shorts, skirts, leggings) and pajamas.

  • Miguel’s hanging clothes

  • Small shelf with miscellaneous sweatshirts, sweaters, sweatpants

  • Narrow hanging shelves with shoes

  • Wider hanging shelves with Miguel’s shorts, jeans, and trunks, and my swim in the drawer

  • Hanging rack on the door with sandals

I hope you enjoyed this peek into my closet!
