Review: Numi

Finally, finally, finally! I’ve been meaning to write a Numi review for what feels like ages, and I have had at least one question about them. Here it is. Enjoy! (Psst: referral code at the bottom! 😉)

I purchased XS in the Crop (almond, black, white, caramel), the Boatneck Crop (black), and the Mock (black). I usually purchase XS/0 tops, and have a petite torso/bust.

The undershirts feature pads sewn into the armpit to absorb sweat so you don’t feel hot or wet, and to protect your top from wet spots and sweat damage.

The thin ribbed material is 90% Tencel, 10% Lycra, and incredibly soft.

These have all laundered very well. Sometimes they need a little extra dry time, as the pads are designed to absorb moisture. They don’t stay as amazingly soft as they feel when they’re new, but they’re still very comfortable and wearable.

The short sleeves are seamless (read: unhemmed), which means they can be flat under sleeves. I find they sometimes roll up under tighter sleeves, but I just roll them down from the inside. It can be annoying, but it doesn’t bother me enough to stop wearing them.

I have bought and wear the almond color the most because it works under anything, while black and other colors work under fewer pieces. That’s both based on personal preference, and the color and sheerness of my tops.

The Crop

Designed to be reversible (scoop neck [shown: white, almond, caramel, black] or high neck), the crop is my most worn, for sure.

I prefer the cropped version because I wear high waisted bottoms, and don’t want to deal with tucking in more layers. But I assume that the Signature is the same aside from the length.

I sometimes wear the black tops on their own, in either direction. I don’t do the same with the other colors because they’re more sheer and I don’t like how they look with a bra.

The Boatneck Crop

The appeal for the Boatneck Crop is that it would be less visible under tops with more open necklines. It has the scoop on both sides, and I think you can see that it sits a bit lower than the scoop on the Crop.

And it generally functions as designed! But I also find that it slips off my shoulders quite easily. It stays in place best under more fitted tops.

The Mock

So soft, and designed to be very fitted, but the Mock is definitely on the tighter side. It goes to my lower hip, and is fitted the whole way. It’s a very slight mockneck, though pictures of some of the other colors look different.

I would say these run small, and would recommend sizing up if you don’t want a super tight fit.

I would consider getting other colors, though I’m not sure how well lighter colors would look with bra lines.

In two words: life changing.

In more words, these tops are what I didn’t know I needed, and now I wear one almost every day. Since I first tried these in fall of 2020, I haven’t stopped wearing them. Unless I’m wearing something sleeveless, I have on one of these undershirts.

If you don’t like sweat patches on your tops, if you love wearing sweaters but don’t love washing them, if you get hot or cold, I would recommend these.
