Packing Tips: Summer Vacation
Summer is in full swing! We’re all making the most of it, which often means getting away for a vacation. Whether it be for a day trip, a weekend, or an extended holiday, it involves packing! Here are my top tips for packing for hot weather travel. I linked to my other packing posts at the bottom!
Check the Weather, Always
Plan for heat, but still bring a layer for cool nights.
Just one jacket, sweatshirt, or sweater can make the difference between enjoying your night and being chilly!
Pick something you love, that is versatile, and/or is really comfortable.
If there’s any potential rain in the forecast, bring a layer or umbrella suitable.
A rain slicker or umbrella are good to have, just in case. Having one with you might even ward off the weather!
Comfort Over Flash
Be cute without getting sunburn, chafing, or blisters.
Materials that are best for staying cool: cotton, linen, and other natural fibers.
Wear shoes you know don’t bother your feet.
Or pack bandaids and blister block!
Plan 2-3 Outfits… Per Day
Is it silly to pack three outfits per day? Maybe! Why would I recommend doing that?
The outfits would be for day, swim/activity, and dinner/evening.
Depending on your itinerary, you might know days that you will and won’t need extra outfits, but it’s nice to be prepared.
I like to have clothes to change into in case an outfit gets sweaty, dirty, perhaps splashed on a water ride,
Pack mix and match outfits so you can switch things around with your mood!
If swimming is a possibility, bring some options - you don’t want to miss out on swimming because you don’t have a suit with you, and buying might not be an option (and do you really want to if you don’t have to?).
