Winter 20/21 Summary

The weather is very much still wintery, and the official first day of spring isn’t for a few weeks, but I’m so over it! Let’s see this as attempting to manifest an early return of spring weather, rather than jinxing it.

Much like last winter, it was the season of sweaters! But this month, I did try to get out of my rut, and wore more skirts and dresses with tights. The handy thing about being at home more is that you don’t have to worry about the weather quite so much.

What Worked

In the fall, I discovered the alani cashmere sweater from Pilcro at Anthropologie, and now have it in five colors. I’m almost embarrassed at just how much I’ve worn these sweaters... except that’s how a great piece works! I even did a post earlier this month that’s an homage to them.

Scarves are my favorite way to add interest and warmth to a winter outfit.

Last winter, I said that I wanted to wear more than just sweaters the following year. While I wore a lot of sweaters, I purposefully branched out to other looks, and really enjoyed it!

Shopping List - How’d I do?

  • Berets and cloches: I got a leather beret for Christmas, and I think that’s enough for me. I like my pompom hats for really cold days. If I saw a beret in a great color, I might try it.

  • Neutral puffer: Like, not a need. I think I’d rather get a long, bright puffer, maybe. I’m thinking orange.

  • Tights: The ones I have are not that bad. I think I’ll try some from heist since they boast about their comfortable waistband, and that’s the most important part to me.

  • Wool socks: I think I’m set for now. Too many potential options and not enough need.

  • Winter boots: Check! I ordered a pair from Native (and a matching pair for my kiddo), and they’re a nice day-to-day cute pair for wet, cold, slippery days.

  • Black ankle booties: There are a lot that I’ve looked at, but I think until I can try more in person or return options more easily, I’ll wait. I have black booties that work well enough, so that’s fine for now.

  • Sweaters: Still looking for sage and olive. Might add another neon fuschia to the list to replace my AE sweater that didn’t wash that well. I can’t stop until I have a veritable rainbow of sweaters in my arsenal.
