Texas Tuxedos

or, an ode to the denim jacket

I started wearing denim jackets in the spring of 2013, and there’s been no going back. I vividly remember seeing a display of yellow denim jackets at Anthro, a color and style I didn’t wear, and I was entranced. That yellow jacket remains one of my favorite pieces!

I wear mine year round: they’re my layers for the rare cool night in the summer, a constant in spring and fall, and I even layer them under my winter coats.

The Texas tuxedo, specifically, is a denim jacket worn with denim. This is also called a Canadian tuxedo, but I prefer the alliterative alternative!

Once you have your tux jacket and trousers (your denim and your denim), you just need to pick something to go with them! It can be a pattern with colors that match your denim, or a different solid, and anywhere from a tank to a sweater, depending on the season and fit of your jacket.
